STUNNING POWAY ENTRY - PHASE I
Front Entry Design and Hardscape
When Client,Kim, first reached out to me for a consultation in the late summer of 2017, I suggested that she send some photos of her existing landscape. I received pictures of a dated, overgrown hodgepodge of plant material that had, over the years, been shorn into submission by a well-meaning Gardener.
I knew at first glance that this design space would showcase one of my signature Succulent Tapestries! Kim purchased a gorgeous fountain and concrete bench, which we supplemented with beautiful Spanish style pottery.
A flagstone path, softly edged in Dymondia, leads visitors through the Garden, to the seating area and finally, to the front door.
Boulders are Baja Red and act as a visual anchor in the design.
I staged Aloe ferox, Agave americana var. medio-picta 'Alba' and Alluaudia procera as foundation plants and connected the dots with a huge variety of Tapestry plants which I painted into the landscape.
Burgundy lava rock with black lava accents and a ribbon of Baja red rubble finish the design. Greg modified the existing irrigation from spray to subterranean drip. Low-voltage accent lights were staged to accentuate the garden vignettes at night.
This is the first of a multi-phase project that will include approximately two acres of landscape space! When complete, this residence will be transformed into a world-class Succulent showpiece.
